The “Poste Vecie” Restaurant welcomes
its guests in two historical dining-rooms, where one can still feel
the atmosphere of the “Antica Serenissima”, thanks to the sixteenth
century still functioning fire-places and the enchanting “frescos”
which represent the 7 deadly sins.
The first dining room one comes across on entering the Restaurant is
“La sala dei vizi”, called so because of its “frescos”
representing the seven deadly sins, offered by artists who, between
the end of 1800 and the beginning of 1900, wanted to depict in a
very intriguing “fresco” all the most important members of the Club
of the Poste who discussed art and politics, in front of a good
glass of wine and Venetian “cicchetti”.
Having walked through “La sala dei vizi”, one then reaches the
“Sala delle missive”, where in 1500 the post officers of the
“Antica Serenissima” sorted the post. Many coins and letters, from
1500 until the fall of the Serenissima, are still hanging on the
walls today. |
